PUSH TO FREEDOM - WHO ARE WE?

Push to freedom is a new and exiting non-profit organisation that intends to support our injured serving and ex-military personnel with their social and recreational needs. The idea for the organisation arose from many years working with the military, identifing areas of need. We feel that it is important to recognise the dedication and bravery past and present and our aim is to create a benevolent fund that offers support to service personnel and their families. We want to cut out the red tape and cater for the immediate and unexpected needs following traumatic injury and also help in the long term care.

Push to Freedom was officially launched on 6th June 2008 in Portsmouth, where the "big event" next year is set to take place. The organisation is made up of a number of serving and ex-military personnel who have sustained a form of injury along the way. You could say that we know what the troops want because we have been in the same position as those in need now.

Our BIG EVENT next year is an adventure in itself. The P2F team intend on kayaking across the channel from Portsmouth to Normandy and then a number of the team will be using hand-cycles, to cover the route of the D-Day landings along the Normandy coastline. Along the way we will pay our respects to our fallen service men and women, stopping at each beach included in the Normandy landings where we will be laying a wreath in rememberance of all those who were injured and lost their lives and indeed those who continue to do just that.

The event is set to take place during the D-Day anniversary commencing on the 6th June 2009. Prior to this however we intend to raise funds so we can open the benevolent fund next year after the D-Day event. We have set out a number of fundraising events spanning Surrey, Sussex and London.
